“First dirt century of the year & first in several years. Went for broke on a route I used to ride all the time, from Wichita to Cassoday & back. Single speed of course… because why not.
Roads were mostly rideable, with only a mile or so of hike a bike on a few MMR’s. Once I was out in ranch land the roads dried up & the views were incredible.
Hit Cassoday, had some great orange nut bread, & the strangest thing happened. Another crazy dude rides up! A friend from El Dorado, Trey, decided Saturday was a good day to test his legs too.
We rode out together. Some company on that leg was much appreciated. He peeled off to head home just as the sun was setting. Solo again, the temps plummeted & the roads seemed to all be fresh fist sized “gravel” spread edge to edge. Slow going. Finally rolled home far later than planned, but I at least have a baseline now for next time.”
